the Midnight Observer

The Midnight Observer

By Maryam Hedayat

The moon burns,

He pulps the heat of his sun

And spits out a sludge of silver rays.

A pitiful pattern of tears

That burn holes within his skin

Craters of dismay.

The moon burns,

Not with envy,

But with desire

Of all things that shine and respire.
