SUBMISSIONS

Bardics Anonymous is open to unsolicited submissions.

Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but if the work is accepted elsewhere before we respond, please withdraw it by sending a follow-up email.

We publish poetry, prose and fiction, interviews and reviews, nonfiction, advice, photography, videography, and drawings by emerging and established artists from all around the world.

Any theme or motif of submission is encouraged as long as it follows a general premise of the unknown, philosophical thought, or human nature (think dark academia). Please note that any work that inspires hate will be discarded without further notice.

Note: We are not currently a paying magazine. All submitted works will not be paid.

POETRY/Prose

We are currently accepting both poetry and prose via email only. A formal manuscript is not necessary, nor is a cover letter. Please send your submission in a suitable email format (.docx, .pdf, .jpeg). If submissions are sent as Google Documents or any format similar, they will not be accepted. If there is a specific order in which your work should be read, make a note of it in the subject line of the email. Please do not submit more than 8 pages of work or only the first 8 pages will be accounted for (if the stanza runs onto the next page, the entire poem will be discarded).

Fiction

We are currently accepting fiction via email only. When submitting fiction, a cover letter is not necessary. Manuscripts do not need to be professional, but should be as follows:

  • Times New Roman Font, Size 11 or 12

  • Double Spaced

  • No longer than 6 pages in length or 1500 words

Please send your submission in a suitable email format (.docx, .pdf, .jpeg). If submissions are sent as Google Documents or any format similar, they will not be accepted.

Ongoing Stories: Submissions to Ongoing Stories do not follow our general page length requirements. For this column, there is no maximum page length or word count. Manuscripts must be chaptered and can be sent chapter-by-chapter or all at once. Completed works are not necessary to be considered for the column, but at least two chapters must be submitted with a clear-cut intention of continuation.

Advice COLUMN

We are currently accepting advice via email only. Advice submissions can be in the form of short stories, 100-word essays, how-tos, and so forth. For essays, we ask that you do not submit any work with the names of any other individuals without their consent.

A formal manuscript is not necessary, nor is a cover letter. Please send your submission in a suitable email format (.docx, .pdf, .jpeg). If submissions are sent as Google Documents or any format similar, they will not be accepted.

Submissions should not be longer than 1000 words.

Nonfiction

We are currently accepting nonfiction via email only. Nonfiction submissions can be formatted in any way you see fit, be it a personal essay, research paper, informative essay, or work of philosophical thought.

Submissions do not have a maximum character count, but we ask that it is not too long (aka. this is not the place to submit your final thesis paper).

Interviews/Reviews

We are currently accepting interviews and reviews via email only. Interview or Review submissions can be formatted in any way you see fit (tentatively). Any quotes utilized in interviews can not spread any themes of hate, use foul language, or explain graphic content. Submitted reviews can be of anything. Both interviews and reviews should draw back to a theme of either philosophy, the humanities, or the unknown. In other words, don’t interview a rapper if you can’t tie the moral back to the vitality of humanity. And if you can, kudos.

A formal manuscript is not necessary, nor is a cover letter. Please send your submission in a suitable email format (.docx, .pdf, .jpeg). If submissions are sent as Google Documents or any format similar, they will not be accepted.

Photography/Videography

We are currently accepting both photography and videography via email only. Photography can be submitted with any dimensions, to be used as blog cover photos, magazine issue photos, or portfolio/gallery photos. If there is a specific category that you wish your photo to be in, specify. If unspecified, photos may be cropped to fit a certain category. Photos intended as cover photos must be submitted in black and white. If unspecified, we may convert your photo into black and white to fit this standard. Photos should be high-resolution (300 DPI). Please do not send more than 10 photos.

Videography should be no more than three minutes in length. All types of videography are accepted, be it short films, silent films, and so forth. Videos must be high resolution. Do not send more than two films. If the file is too large to send via email, let us know and we will work to get your submission in another manner. Video essays or recorded poetry should have transcripts/the work being read attached alongside the video (which should follow the requirements within their given sections).

Submissions for both photography and videography should not display nudity, extreme violence, or any triggering/disturbing scenes.

Written summaries are allowed to provide a synopsis of the photography or videography submitted. However, the written portion should not be longer than 300 words.

Drawings & Art (IN-ISSUE Only)

We are currently accepting drawings and paintings via email only. As of now, we are looking for artists who can submit doodles/cartoons, drawings, and paintings for our actual issues. These would not be posted to our blog but would accompany articles in our physical and digital issue prints. Submissions should not be politically biased and should not have nudity or explicit words. Doodles and cartoons should be in black and white.

SUBMISSION NOTE

Multiple submissions are allowed, but we ask that they be submitted in separate emails. Work must be submitted from an email that can receive emails in turn. If a submission is accepted and we are not able to get back in touch if needed, the submission will be discarded.

EMAIL SUBMISSIONS

When submitting, please make note of what section you are submitting to in the subject of the email.
