Unknown

By Aayushi Roy

The moonlight - the grass- the broken pieces ~an art

The mind - the dreams - the unawakened ~a pandemonium

The heart - the relations - the dam ~a backbone

The sun - the new day - the awaiting ~a path

Deafening chaos or mind-numbing silence

how do we stand on our own two trembling feet

how do we hold onto thoughts in our spinning heads

how do we love with our sojourned hearts

lost in the overwhelming crowd.

Astray on the confusing paths

for all of them calling our name

gripping tightly on the bent straw of hope

As the monstrous river of mayhem threatens to drown us

Our hands on the knob of the door we’re closing

Standing on our own two feet we’re choosing

Our heads trying to expel all the uproar out

Our hearts trying hard to find a rhythm to beat about.

So many awakened desires, so many humming dreams

There’s a big world out there we’re going to fight

So many standing expectations,

so many promises to be fulfilled

Leaving the known behind, we’re going for a new life

There’s an absolute possibility of mistakes

Still, the life in me is determined to do something

The future is going to break us down

And so we promise to rise up every time

We leave the shades and loving family

Here, now under the sky of commonality

Opposite to the home we lived in

We’re here to conjure the unknown

A deep breath of will and control

We stand on our own two firm feet

Our steady mind ready to explore

the rhythmic beat of our hearts reminding us to be bold.
