OPEN LETTER TO RYAN GIGGS
OPEN LETTER TO RYAN GIGGS
By Carson Wolfe
You saw me on the canal path that runs
from my house to the new hotel you own.
There was familiarity in your eyes. I once
painted your portrait to raise money
for my local food bank, but that wasn’t it.
It was the glare I’ve learned to never stare
directly at, for risk of earning a trophy case
of shiny apologies. I saw you in the papers,
denying claims made by your ex-girlfriend.
You wouldn’t even leash your dog for me
to pass. You are a hero to my child’s father.
I only look him in the eye when witnesses
are present, you kinda look like him, too.
