Comparable to the Gods
Comparable to the Gods
By Quinn Delaney
The only man who could ever love me
is Cupid, after an eternity
of boundless refusals
the one woman who would truly love me;
Respectfully, it is Aphrodite
Herself, out of pity.
But I am undeserving
of such an introduction.
The only one who should call me their love is love,
and love is blind to me.
But I play no games, I will tell them all
your secrets; they will know what breaks love's heart,
they'll love you as I do.
To speak sincerely of love is to heave
the lifeless bodies of each deity
from the fresh carnage of antecedents;
I have fallen for love.
But I am undeserving
of such an introduction.
