Camp New Order
Camp New Order
By Ben Nardolilli
Strange spirits haunt along the shores
of the lake where our cabins gather in a circle
A ghost tries to lure us with progress,
a zombie says science can explain everything
Meanwhile, twin demons do their best
to seduce us with markets and brotherhood
But here at this secular camp, we do our best
not to be taken in by them and be scared
We have seen the movies and read
all the old books telling us about their tricks
No way will we be stupid enough to flee
into the woods and surrender our fates
We will pretend to be brave, even if their logic
is perfect, or they to cry boo underwater
The only things we need to worry about
are marshmallows, the fire, and second base
