one must imagine sisyphus happy
one must imagine sisyphus happy
By Helena Robbins
how is sisyphus not crushed by the boulder
when it comes tumbling back down?
and why’s it so easy to think i’m over it
any time you’re not around?
do you think he secretly hopes
to be pulled underneath all that weight?
i wish i didn’t feel the way i do
when i’m reminded of your grace.
does sisyphus ever feel enveloped
by a feeling so absurd?
like your uncanny reoccurrence;
like the shaking of the earth?
maybe he likes the familiarity
of being suckered in again and again
maybe i like that feeling you give me
when you crush me to no end
