ANGELS, EVERYWHERE
Angels, Everywhere
By Princess Asaldo
Psalm 91:11-12: “For He commands his angels with regard to you, to guard you wherever you go. With their hands they shall support you, lest you strike your foot against a stone.”
If everyone has an angel looking out for them, then who is mine?
A. My heroes, time and time again.
Perhaps it's them, the ones who grew with me as the seasons went by;
Perhaps it’s them, the ones who taught me that in a world so lonely,
Does not mean that I too must be alone.
Perhaps these angels were my guiding light in the labyrinth of life’s uncertainties,
connected to me with the beaded threads of friendship bracelets we made along the way.
B. In his embrace, I find heaven;
a silent sanctuary from the noisiness of life, where love's warmth envelops me.
Maybe my guardian angel dwelled behind the curtains of familiarity,
a comforting presence veiled within the ordinary,
tethered to me by an invisible string, felt only by the hearts it brings together.
Thanks to him, I look to the altar, to the churches, to the heavens,
I whisper to every birthday candle, every shooting star, every coin at the bottom of fountains: “Please, let me keep this angel in my life forever”
C. Once a little girl who carried much hopes,
now a woman whose aspirations are locked in a vault;
A gambit that had to be played to mother a dream that came true too early.
Perhaps my guardian lies in her, whose angel wings shelter me in a comforting embrace. Perhaps it's her, whose silent sacrifices have loudly shaped who I am today.
D. I’ve heard tales of people’s guardian angels,
those that salvage you from the turmoils of life,
those who find the beauty in you even in the ugliest of moments.
Like an explorer searching for hidden treasure, I’ve searched for this rumored guardian everywhere I look;
In every soul I loved and every soul that has ever loved me,
Aching to feel that steadfast embrace.
Little did I know that if i gazed into the mirror,
I may see that guardian,
right in front of me, locking eyes with a gentle smile;
A smile of liberation.
Perhaps when I’ve lost myself in the sea of life’s despairs,
A look into my reflection is all I need,
to see that all along, my own guardian has been me.
E. All of the above–
Perhaps there is no such limit for how many guardian angels enter your life, Nor is there a diction for how these angels are supposed to look like. It doesn’t matter where these angels are; near or far.
For the real angels,
are the ones that show you what heaven is like on Earth.
